Join Our Team
At The Cricketers, we are a small, hands-on team running a village pub we’re genuinely proud of. We care about doing things properly — a fresh seasonal menu, a warm welcome at the bar, and a place that feels like the centre of the village rather than just somewhere to pass through.
We’re not a big operation, and we don’t try to be. That means everyone here plays an important role in how the pub runs day to day.
From our kitchen to letting rooms and front of house there is always a job to be done, a customer to great and a story to be part of.

It’s busy when it needs to be, especially at weekends, but it’s also a good environment to work in. You’ll be part of a small team where your input actually matters.
We keep things straightforward:
We support each other
We work hard during service
We take pride in what we do
And we try to keep things enjoyable along the way
-
We don’t expect perfection or years of experience.
What matters to us is attitude.People who:
Turn up on time and get stuck in
Take a bit of pride in their work
Can work at pace when it’s busy
And are easy to get along with
We can teach skills. We can’t teach mindset.
-
We’re a small growing business where you’ll have a genuine impact and shape what were able to do next.
A genuinely supportive small team
A role where you’re trusted to get on with things
Opportunities to grow with the business
Flexible hours depending on the role
A proper village pub environment — not a faceless chain
Access to e-learning and formal qualifications

We’re looking for someone to join our kitchen team in a hands-on role that goes beyond just pot wash.
This is an important position in a small, busy kitchen — keeping things moving during service, supporting the chef, and helping maintain the standard we aim for across everything we do.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for keeping the kitchen running smoothly behind the scenes, including:
Keeping on top of pot wash and ensuring everything is clean and ready for service
Supporting the chef by fetching ingredients and assisting with kitchen flow
Helping with basic food prep, starters, desserts and garnish
Making sure the kitchen stays clean, organised and ready for service
This role is active and fast-paced, especially during busy services, so you’ll need to be comfortable working with a sense of urgency.
What We’re Looking For
Experience isn’t essential — attitude is.
We’re looking for someone who:
Works hard and takes pride in what they do
Can move quickly and stay organised under pressure
Is reliable and turns up ready to get stuck in
Has a good awareness of what needs doing without being asked
Enjoys being part of a team
Why This Role is Different
This isn’t just a standard KP job.
You’ll be part of the kitchen during service, working alongside the chef and getting involved in different aspects of food preparation.
It’s a great opportunity for someone who wants to learn more about how a kitchen run & is interested in food and cooking
Hours & Flexibility
We’re looking for someone who can help across key service times, including evenings and weekends.
Hours can be flexible depending on availability, but reliability during busy periods is important.

We’re looking for a reliable, organised chef to join our kitchen team as we expand into breakfast service.
This is a key role for us — helping us grow the business, improve how the kitchen runs day to day, and maintain the quality we’re building everything around.
The Role
This is a mix of breakfast service and kitchen prep, working closely with our head chef to set the kitchen up for the day ahead.
You’ll be responsible for:
Running a simple, high-quality breakfast service
Preparing ingredients and components for lunch and dinner service
Keeping the kitchen organised, stocked and ready for service
Supporting the head chef in maintaining consistency and standards
You’ll often be working independently in the mornings, so being organised and self-sufficient is key.
What We’re Looking For
We’re not looking for anything overly complicated — just someone solid, reliable and good to work with.
You should:
Be comfortable working on your own and managing your time
Take pride in doing simple things well
Stay calm and organised during service
Be consistent and reliable week to week
Have some kitchen experience (breakfast experience is a bonus, not essential)
Why This Role Works Well
This is a great role for someone who wants a better balance.
Mostly daytime hours
Evenings largely free (with optional extra shifts available)
A steady, structured role in a small team
Opportunity to grow into a larger position as the business develops
It’s ideal for someone who enjoys working mornings and being part of a kitchen without the pressure of constant late nights.
Hours & Flexibility
Wednesday–Saturday: 8:00am – 1:00pm
Sunday: Longer shift supporting prep and service
There is potential to increase hours over time, including evening shifts, for the right person.
